Volleyball is a sport that many people don’t think of as an adventure. It is. Going to new places where tournaments are held, the cheer of the crowd when you are winning, making mistakes, improving throughout, or even creating new memories with your teammates. The number 7 is very special to me because I’ve been using it throughout my volleyball season.
Volleyball is an experience that can be a good thing in your life or a bad thing. For sure there are many emotional rollercoasters such as, frustration saying you’re not good enough, injuries, or even when you make the perfect pass to your setter. You know you’ve been through the experience when your knee pads and your arm sleeve get all dirty and ripped. Volleyball in my eyes: The ball is my weapon, the court is my battlefield and the number 7 is my determination. A true adventure.

This picture was taken in Julian. My brother, dad, and I went to an off-roading event with the Jeep Junkies group. This is a picture of our jeeps lined up when we were making a pitstop for lunch. This relates to the contest theme of adventure because we were offroading. We were exploring the desert and shortly before the picture was taken, we were going into natural caves.

This was taken when I was exploring the various parts of Los Angles and experiencing the different cultures that are a part of LA. In this photo I was at Olvera Street looking around and absorbing the environment. While I was eating food from one of the vendor there, I noticed this group of people playing music. So I brought out my camera and took a photo of them.

What is adventure? Is it a journey? A life or death situation? It depends, adventure is subjective, different for everyone. Adventures for me are the walks I go on with my dog, which are filled with surprises like meeting new people or dogs. These little walks may not seem like adventures for everyone, but for me, they are the most eventful adventures of my day.

An adventure isn’t only about the outcome, it’s about the steps towards the end product. This photo is meaningful to me not just because of the photo itself, but the journey I went through to take this photo and the people who came along with me. To take this photo I went on an adventure myself, a spontaneous decision to hike up a hill to see the other side. It wasn’t just a plain old hike, it was with the people I hold closest to me. My mom and my sister came with me on this journey up a hill. The outcome was this picture and a beautiful view but that’s not what’s important to me. The most important things are the steps taken to reach the top and the people I had along with me through this adventure.

This photo represents adventure because it leaves a sense of wonder at where the road goes as it curves around the bend. It invites the viewer to imagine their own adventure and what they would do to explore and experience new things.
This photo presents the idea that adventure awaits around the corner with the image of the road narrowing and disappearing out of the image. It represents the many great possibilities that can be found on the open road. To me, an open road opens up lots of opportunities for adventures big or small.

This photo was taken in the center of Osaka just by the Yodo river that runs right through the city. This was my second time visiting the country and I felt more connected to it this time. I was simply taking a walk through the city and went over this bridge. This bridge had an amazing view of the city and some baseball fields next to the river. This photo exemplifies my adventure through my homeland of Japan.

These photos were taken through my idea of outside exploration of what I thought best showed off Carlsbad. This shows adventure, as it is a demonstration of getting outside and being yourself in nature.

The backpack was hanging on my door. It relates to adventure because you can pack things you need to go on an adventure like water bottles and snacks. I want to take my backpack on an adventure to Chicago.

I took this photograph while visiting Roma Fori Imperiali in Italy. This grand staircase captures how I feel about the path to to becoming an adult - a combination of thrilling and daunting. As a teen girl, I have dreams of becoming a leader, change maker, role model, and future mentor. However, I am aware that the trek can be long, and some have spoken of a "glass ceiling." Will I have the courage and endurance to reach my ambitions? My future path feels like an "Adventure" - one that I highly anticipate, and one that I hope to successfully navigate.

This image is refreshing to the eye with all the greenery around. The image also looks majestic and clean. This image represents adventure because of the path it has along the whole picture, the path eventually going into the trees. I'd say this image relates to adventure by showing the clear path on a hike but not being able to see the end, until you keep going. It’s like life. You don’t know what is ahead of you until you keep going. Life is an adventure, which is why this image represents adventure. The path may be long, but it'll be worth it in the end.

Using low light/long exposure photography, I wanted to capture the adventure of storytelling and the power words have. I used red LED lights, and swirled them coming from my mouth to represent the neverending imagination and creativity one could have with storytelling, leading listeners on beautiful stories of any kind. Storytelling in and of itself is one of the biggest and arguably most important adventures in human history. It drives imagination and allows our thoughts to be explored, exploration being a key component of adventure itself. Capturing the beginnings of a storyline in this photo, via the red swirling light, means portraying the beginning of a very compelling story and the power words have.

This photo was taken at the First Robotics Competition, held at Port Hueneme Naval Base, California. First Robotics Competition (FRC) is a global program aimed at promoting STEM in high schoolers, through an initial 6-week "build season," where teams build robust robots in conjunction with the year's theme and game. Within this specific competition, teams from California, Arizona, the Netherlands, Taipei, and China have all come together to compete. Each team, whether a new rookie team or a renowned veteran team, has explored their own unique journeys and hardships to be able to compete.
