The photo was taken while visiting family. My daughter is full of life and laughter. She was caught in the moment, being sassy and loving it. She shares her joyful personality in this photo as she leans into her laughter, eyes closed, living in the moment!

A path like the one in a movie with a happy ending, walking into the sunset.

Like an oasis in the desert, my bed is a sanctuary of peace and joy, where every pillow feels like a soft retreat from the chaos of the world. That's why I took a photo of my bed. It’s my fortress of comfort—quiet, soothing, and always waiting to offer rest and happiness after a long day. In this peaceful space, I find the calm that lets me unwind and the warmth that makes me feel at home. My blanket wraps me in a sense of security and contentment. Here, joy is in the softness of the sheets and the quiet embrace of the night, always ready to welcome me into rest and peace.
Honorable Mention
I took this picture of my little brother playing with bubbles because I believe that a kid playing is always when you see them most joyful. When I see my little brother playing, laughing and just having fun it automatically puts a smile on my face and I know it brings joy to many more people. That's why I chose to put this photo because I believe in the expression of a contagious laugh/smile.

This is a photo of my dog Pablo, and for the past three years he has filled my life with an unparalleled level of companionship and joy that no other animal has ever given me. Pablo has a contagious love for life, especially when it comes to running through the grass, his energy boundless and his spirit always playful. You can see the pure happiness in the way his voluminous fur flows as he bounces with excitement. It’s easy to take for granted just how much happiness a dog can bring to your heart, but when you pause to reflect on a moment like this, captured in a single photograph, you truly begin to appreciate it. Every pixel in this picture reflects his playful, carefree nature, a reminder of the joy he brings to the outdoors—and to my life.

This was taken from my home. My three kittens (from left to right, Shadow, Torty, and Mira) love each other a lot and are always cuter when they are together. I am always filled with joy whenever they do something cute, so the three of them being cute together always fills me with a lot of joy.

This photo was taken for an assignment in my photo class earlier this year. It fits this year's contest theme of "JOY" because it captures the people who make me happy and bring joy into my life. Preserved in Polaroid pictures taped together on a wall. Each photo holds a memory, a moment in my life that made me smile, laugh, or feel loved. The image itself might be blurry, but that only adds to its meaning.
Often, our happiest memories aren’t perfectly crisp or detailed in our minds. Instead, they exist as flashes of laughter, warm feelings, and the hearts of those we cherish. Even though you can’t see the details in each Polaroid, the emotion is still there. You can feel the joy radiating from the collection of moments. It’s a reminder that life isn’t about having a picture-perfect memory of every second, but about how those moments make you feel.
This photo proves that the best moments don’t have to be crystal clear to make you smile; they just have to feel right. Joy isn’t always about perfection. It’s about presence, connection, and the little snapshots of happiness we carry with us.

A girl was accepted into a high school she's been waiting to go to. She was overcome with joy and began twirling. She kept smiling and laughing. She couldn't stop. She was on a field filled with luscious grass and dandelions. She was very joyful because of what she just accomplished. This was my first time submitting a photo to any contest.
Honorable Mention
This photo was taken at the park while walking my dog. My dog's name is Chispa, and she loves the park. Joy is what I would describe what my dog feels when she goes to the park. I took this photo when she was smiling, and her smile brought joy to me and to my girlfriend who was holding her in this photo and this is why I think that this photo fits the theme of this contest "Joy".

This picture captures the joy of both witnessing and being a part of the Miramar airshow. The viewers look up in awe as the planes goes into a nosedive, feeling the suspense of the situation as the plane pulls up at the very last second. It also highlights the pilot's joyride through the sky, an intense feeling of joy that cannot be described using words. One can only hope to capture it in a photograph.

You will often overlook the joys of nature, things like the warmth of the grass, that shadow the trees cast on you, the sun lighting up the sky. In doing so, you miss some of the beauties of our world. All I ask of you, is that the next time you walk by a glimmering tree, a beautiful lake, or even a pigeon, take it in, and look at its details, truly think about its life. If you start to examine the world around, you wouldn't expect such beauty, but it lay there in plain sight. The few moments you can take in nature can seem to be the best.

I was outside in my backyard, and I was watching my dog happily playing with his ball. It seemed like such a joyous moment for my dog. I saw how happy and playful he was when playing with his ball. I grabbed my camera to capture this moment. I wonder how happy he feels being so carefree and playful in the backyard.

In this photograph, my niece and I were at the park. She loves when we hang out at the park together. You can see her here under the playground. I was on top of the playground taking the picture. She was jumping and she was laughing because she was a “Bunny”. She was also doing the peace sign for the picture.

A girl outside in the rain having fun jumping in puddles. Having no worries in the world just fun moments she'll always remember. It shows how we can find so much joy in the little things in life that sometimes you might think don't matter. If you really look, you'll always find some joy in the world no matter what.

This photo was taken before I took my senior portraits, in the lobby as I was talking to my baby cousin. This photo was taken after the baby woke up, he was not having the best time, but then he was happy. The picture only says so much, but the more you look at it the more joy you see. The purity of the smile, the joy in the contagious laughs. This brings joy as it is such a bright photo, knowing that behind the scenes everyone around us was smiling. This baby looked completely different a month ago, he was very small, and never smiled. He was prayed for and brought back up. This smile isn’t just a smile, but a sign of hope, a sign of relief, a sign of joy. He really does deserve the world, and I hope he gets it, he is very loved and now will do nothing but smile.

Watching my daughter endure three knee surgeries during her high school career makes this sprint across the football field extra special. Seeing her authentic joy on graduation day absolutely warms my heart, but it also reminds me that many of our students face all kinds of adversity with courage and perseverance on their paths toward one of life’s significant milestones.
